SUPPORT LOCAL SKATEBOARDERS

Central Maui, is in need of a new skatepark. There are many skateboarders, bikers, scooter riders, and roller bladers in the community that would love a new fresh skatepark in or around the Central Maui Regional Park.

PROPOSED LOCATION FOR NEW CENTRAL MAUI SKATEPARK

Why does Central Maui need a new skatepark?

  • Central Maui represents the largest population on-island and this park will serve the most in the community.
  • The current skatepark is outdated and lacks diversity and features to appeal to different skill levels.
  • To provide a safe space for skaters and like-minded athletes to learn, practice and enjoy sport and recreation.

Skateboarding impacts those from all races, backgrounds and demographics. A new skatepark will be enjoyed by many across a range of skill, experience and generation.

New Central Maui Skatepark

Central Maui, is in need of a new skatepark. There are many skateboarders, bikers, scooter riders, and rollerbladers in the community that would love a new skatepark in or around the Central Maui Regional Sports Complex. This proposed location is ideal for its proximity to many neighborhoods and schools and is also easily accessible and convenient. Central Maui only has one skatepark, it's old and rundown with many cracks and uneven surfaces which can be unsafe. The skatepark in Central Maui also lacks diverse features and does not accommodate a variety of skill levels.

Skateboarding has been gaining extreme popularity recently. With community restrictions due to the effects of the pandemic, the skateboarding population and industry has seen an exponential growth. The first-ever inclusion of skateboarding in the 2021 Tokyo Summer Olympics also piqued the interest of many and brought a rise to the sport like never before. A new skatepark to appeal to every level of skater will give skaters a safe place to learn, practice and enjoy recreation and sport with like-minded peers.
